Walking, running, feeling free
Only to stumble and fall.
Slowly rising to dust myself off,
Will I ever learn how to run this race?
Feeling like a failure - fragile and weak,
I doubt myself, my future, His grace.
The world feels dark and cold
And I am alone in its abyss.
Morning breaks; my heart aches.
Warm rays of sunshine
Bleed through the clouds
Like molten love painting the sky,
Melting my grief, my remorse,
In forgiveness untold,
Guilt takes to wing
And I am redeemed.

On the Road to Emmaus
I met the Lord one day
As I was walking
Down the road to Emmaus.
He didn't come to me
With fist pounding doctrine,
But reached out to me
Where I stood,
Clothed in my faults,
And offered me friendship.
He showed me a way
That offered hope and promise
For a new me, a better life.
He built for me a foundation
From stones older than creation
That I could not create for myself.
He unlatched a door
Leading to a new world
Where the I Am blossoms
In the hearts of His children.
And there where I stood,
Alone in my sin,
He washed me
And made me His own.
As I was walking
Down the road to Emmaus.
He didn't come to me
With fist pounding doctrine,
But reached out to me
Where I stood,
Clothed in my faults,
And offered me friendship.
He showed me a way
That offered hope and promise
For a new me, a better life.
He built for me a foundation
From stones older than creation
That I could not create for myself.
He unlatched a door
Leading to a new world
Where the I Am blossoms
In the hearts of His children.
And there where I stood,
Alone in my sin,
He washed me
And made me His own.
